Another 1/2 workout....B +

Yesterday, after seeing Casey Phaigh for a light massage and realignment, I did another one of my 1/2 workouts in my saga to be 100% healthy. It's always a little bit scary for me to attempt any workout, as I just don't have complete confidence in my hip's ability to stay in place yet. This time it was 5 x 1k @ about 80% effort followed by some strides. The first 4 were ran on Amazon Trail and w/ 90 seconds rest @ 3:22, 3:22, 3:20, 3:20. Then I ran to South Eugene's track for the 5th one and ran a pretty comfortable 3:09 before running some strides. Still, this is slow, and this workout is 1/2 or less volume from what I had done in the past, but I never ran that hard during it and I didn't have any real pain, only an ackward feeling of not having my legs used to running a somewhat faster pace on flat ground. All the hills I've done have given me decent leg speed though, and I felt like I could have ran 2:50 to 2:55 without a problem on my last one....but like I said, it's scary. I really don't want to open up completely or strain at all in these workouts, as I don't want to jack myself up and have to drop out because of the pain. I am pretty fired up though, as I went back into Casey this morning, and my hip was in pretty decent shape...not perfect, but not really outta whack either. I'm giving myself a B+ on this one. |
